Playing two matches in the same day for the second time in three days, the Cerritos College volleyball team split their two matches at the Victor Valley Tournament on Friday. The Falcons (3-1) opened with a 15-25, 12-25, 11-25 loss to the host Rams and then rebounded for a 25-20, 15-25, 25-21, 25-21 win over College of the Desert. The team will now travel to Santa Ana College for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference match on Wednesday.

Cerritos vs. Victor Valley: In a match that could be described as "forgettable", the Falcons were unable to find any kind of rhythm against the Rams. Cerritos trailed early in each set and finished with just 22 kills over the course of the match. Sophomore Jasmine McNeal (Long Beach Poly HS) led the team with six of those kills with just one attack error. Sophomore setter Lorinet Marquez (Cerritos HS/Providence (CA) College) dished out 15 assists over the first two sets, with freshman Olivia Smith (Palo Verde HS) coming on in the third set and supplied five assists.

Cerritos vs. College of the Desert: The Falcons turned things around and earned a four-set win over the Roadrunners, with sophomore Monica Vega (South Gate HS) pounding home 17 kills and adding nine digs from the back row. Sophomore Mary Keil (Long Beach Poly HS) helped with the balanced offensive attack with eight kills and seven digs, while the duo of McNeal (two solo blocks, two blocking assists) and freshman Grace Mendez (King City HS) each added seven kills. Marquez finished with 34 assists, with freshman Daisy Segura (Cerritos HS) leading the back row with 14 digs.
