Down a pair of sets against host Los Angeles Harbor College on Wednesday night, the Cerritos College volleyball team staged a comeback that resulted in a five-set win. The five-set victory evened the Falcons record at 7-7 overall and 2-2 in South Coast Conference play. They will host Mt. San Antonio College at 6:00 p.m. next Wednesday in a crossover match. The Mounties (11-1) are coached by former Cerritos All-State player and former co-head coach Ali Oliver, who is in her first season.

After winning the first set, 25-23, Cerritos stumbled and dropped the next two sets (15-25, 10-25), which pinned their backs to the wall. They responded with a 25-17 win in the fourth set and then pulled out a close 15-13 fifth set to defeat the Seahawks (2-13, 0-3).

Sophomore Monica Vega (South Gate HS) led the team with 13 kills and added 10 digs, while sophomore Rocio Rojo-Perez (Bellflower HS) contributed nine kills and shared the team lead with 18 digs. Also contributing on offense and defense was sophomore Mary Keil (Long Beach Poly HS), who had 10 kills, 18 digs and four block assists, with sophomore setter Lorinet Marquez (Cerritos HS/Providence (CA) College) directing the offense with 39 assists.
