On Friday, the Cerritos College volleyball team earned a three-set win over visiting Los Angeles Trade-Tech in just a little over an hour, 25-15, 25-12, 25-16. The South Coast Conference South Division win by the Falcons improved their record to 9-12 overall and 3-3 in divisional play. They have two matches left in their season and will travel to Long Beach City College on Wednesday before hosting Los Angeles Harbor College on Thursday.

In each of the three sets, the Lady Techsters took an early lead, but the Falcons were able to quickly regroup and once they took a lead, they never looked back.

Consecutive kills by sophomore Rocio Rojo-Perez (Bellflower HS) put the team on top in the first set, and when they started scoring points in bunches, pulled away for a win. In the second set, Rojo-Perez served up three straight aces to give the team a commanding lead, with sophomores Leslie Larranaga (John Glenn HS) and Mary Keil (Long Beach Poly HS) combining for seven kills.

The night was capped off with freshman Kristin Londrie (Cerritos HS) and sophomore Monica Vega (South Gate HS) each posting three kills in the third set, and had three other players add a pair of kills.

Vega led the team with eight kills and added 13 digs, with Rojo-Perez posting six kills, six aces and a team-high 17 digs for the Falcons. Larranaga added five kills with sophomore setter Lorinet Marquez (Cerritos HS/Providence, CA College) accounting for 25 assists.
