Volleyball: Jody Suski named 1st Team All-Conference

For the second season in a row, Cerritos College volleyball player Jody Suski (Cerritos HS) was named 1st Team All-South Coast Conference South Division. Suski, who led the Falcons in kills with 228, was also second on the team with 299 digs and finished third with 22 service aces. Suski is the 13th player in school history to be named 1st Team all-conference two seasons in a row. Joining her on the 1st Team was sophomore Regan Stanton (Lakewood HS/Long Beach CC), while freshman Mirka Granoble (Downey HS) was selected to the 2nd Team.

Suski had over 300 more total chances and almost 100 more kills than the next player on the Falcons, and recorded three matches where she posted 20 or more kills. She capped off the season with a 20-kill performance in a sweep over Los Angeles Harbor College, while she recorded a career-high 21 kills against both Pasadena City College and Rio Hondo College. In addition to her success at the net Suski turned in several outstanding matches in the back row. She posted an amazing 52 digs in a five-set match against Rio Hondo and opened the season with 24 digs against Fullerton College.

As for Stanton, she led the team with 317 digs, while also accounting for 57 assists and sharing the team lead with 27 service aces. Stanton matched Suski's dig total in that epic five-set match against Rio Hondo, while she turned in 32 digs against East Los Angeles. Stanton also finished with 26 digs in a match against Pasadena City College. She recorded a season-high five service aces against San Bernardino Valley College and posted at least one assist in 20 of the Falcons matches, including a season-high six against Santa Barbara City College.

Opening the season sharing the setting duties, Granoble took over the role in the latter part of the season and excelled. She appeared in 20 matches and finished the season with 387 assists to go along with 107 digs, 35 kills and 15 service aces. Granoble opened the season with over 30 assists in the first three matches, while recording a season-high 47 assists in a five-set match against Rio Hondo. She finished with a season-high 20 digs against East Los Angeles and posted four service aces against Los Angeles Trade-Tech College. In addition to her 30-plus assists in the first three matches of the season, Granoble also accounted for four kills in each match.
