Getting an early look at this season's CCCAA State Championship course, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in eighth place at the Fresno Invitational on Saturday. The Falcons compiled 204 team points at Woodward Park in a meet that consisted of three schools from the South Coast Conference. Mt. San Antonio College placed second overall, while Los Angeles Harbor College was fourth out of the 13 schools that competed. The team will take part in the SoCal Preview Meet next Friday at Central Park in Santa Clarita.

The first Cerritos runner to complete the course was sophomore Rebecca Harris (Buena Park HS), who posted a very good time of 19:49.5 to finish in 11th place out of 119 entries. There was a bit of a dropoff before the next Falcon runner finished, as sophomore Giselle Burgos (El Rancho HS) finished 38th overall with a clocking of 21:02.3, while freshman Raquel Calderon was less than a minute back and posted a 56th place time of 21:47.1.

Next up for the Falcons was freshman Jessica Ayala (Cabrillo HS), who was right behind in a time of 22:20.0, good for 63rd place overall, with sophomore Gaby Mendoza (Schurr HS) rounding out the top five with her 75th place time of 22:55.2. Also competing for Cerritos were Jaime Monaco (Long Beach Poly HS, 23:07.4, 80th place), Debora Lopez-Guzman (Gahr HS, 23:17.2, 83rd place), Monica Bautista (El Rancho HS, 23:21.3, 84th place) and Mikaiella Vargas (El Rancho HS, 27:16.6, 108th place).
