Running at Mission Bay in San Diego on Friday, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in 18th place out of 23 schools. The Falcons finished with 425 team points, with two other schools from the South Coast Conference finishing in the top five. The team will take a week off before competing in the Coyote Invitational on September 21 at Cal State San Bernardino.
Finishing the 5K race first for Cerritos was freshman Valeria Guerra (Warren HS), who recorded a 53rd place time of 22:06.6. She was followed by freshman Charlotte Barrera (El Rancho HS), whose time of 23:27.5 put her in 92nd place overall, while freshman Xitlali Pulido (Whittier HS) was eight seconds behind and earned a 94th place time of 23:35.1.
Next to complete the course was freshman Yvonne Villalba (Los Alamitos HS) with a 105th place time of 23:47.6 and was in the middle of a six-runner pack that all finished within a second of each other. The final competitor for Cerritos was sophomore Adrianna Martinez (California HS), who finished in 179th place out of 209 runners wit a clocking of 28:00.1.
