In their final game of the three-game series against Long Beach City College, the Cerritos College baseball team saw their 4-0 lead disappear in an 11-4 loss. The Falcons (8-20-1, 4-14) will get a week off from South Coast Conference action and play a two-game series against Oxnard College. The team will play the first game of the home-and-home series on the road at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cerritos opened the scoring in the first inning when freshman outfielder Lucas Iorgulescu (Marina HS) doubled with one out and moved to third base on a single by sophomore designated hitter Alex Bueno (Centennial, NV HS). The first run came in on a single by freshman first baseman Sawyer Chesley (Laguna Beach HS), while Bueno came home on a fielder's choice by freshman catcher Daniel Mariscal, Jr. (Long Beach Poly HS).

Sophomore outfielder Hasan Standifer (San Pedro HS/Jackson State University) led off the second inning with a double, moved to third base on a passed ball and scored when freshman third baseman Mike Santos (Servite HS) doubled to right field. For the third straight inning, the Falcons were able to put a run on the board, as Bueno led off with a single. He moved to second base on a single from Chesley, while a sacrifice advanced both runners. Bueno made it a 4-0 lead when freshman second baseman Andy Vega (Mary Star of the Sea HS) brought him home on a sacrifice fly.

The lead didn't last very long, as the Vikings scored seven times in the bottom of the third inning and never looked back. A bases loaded triple by Matthew Pinal made it a 4-3 Falcons lead, and after a two-out error loaded the bases once again, Alex Seguine hit the second three-run triple of the inning.

The Falcons had just two hits the remainder of the day against Long Beach City pitching.
