After batting in the top of the first inning, the Cerritos College baseball team had a pair of hits and scored two times against host Allan Hancock College. However, after that inning, the Falcons would only collect two more hits, as they dropped an 8-2 decision to the Bulldogs in the final game of the Spring Classic Tournament in Santa Maria. Cerritos (8-21) will resume South Coast Conference play on Tuesday when they travel to El Camino College for a 2:30 p.m. game.

In the first inning, freshman Cruz Mata (Palos Verdes HS) led off with a base hit up the middle. With one out, freshman Ryan Skjonsby (Long Beach Poly HS) reached on an error, which set the table for freshman outfielder Anthony Godfrey (Carson HS), who laced a double, which plated both runners.

Freshman Isaac Vega (Mary Star of the Sea HS) slapped out a one-out single in the second inning, and the team didn't get their next baserunner until Mata reached on an error to lead off the sixth inning. Skjonsby put runners on first and third with a single, but Cerritos could not score any more runs.

The Bulldogs (21-11) tied the game in the bottom of the first inning and it was still a 4-2 game until they put three runs on the board in the sixth inning. The Falcons didn't help their cause in the three-run sixth, as an error allowed two of the three runs to score.
