Facing South Coast Conference co-leader El Camino College on Tuesday, the Cerritos College baseball team dropped a 6-2 decision. The Falcons (8-22, 4-12) will host Chaffey College in a rain make-up game at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Kincaid Field.

Overshadowed in the loss to the Warriors (22-10, 12-4) was the solid six innings turned in by sophomore starting pitcher Rene Galvan (Cathedral HS/Compton College). Aside from the second inning, where he allowed a leadoff home run to Ethan Felix, Galvan allowed just three total hits and struck out six batters. He ended his outing by striking out the final two batters he faced.

Galvan left the game leading, 2-1 after the Falcons scored twice in the top of the third inning. Freshman catcher Conner Sullivan (Palos Verdes HS) led off with a double and advanced to third base on an infield bunt single by sophomore shortstop Julian Francois (Serra HS). With sophomore first baseman Dean Ormonde (Long Beach Millikan HS) at the plate, Francois stole second base and then moved th third on the sacrifice fly that brought home Sullivan. Francois then scored on an infield out by sophomore second baseman Andy Vega (Mary Star of the Sea HS).

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, El Camino took the lead after Juan Carlos Camarana singled, followed by a two-run home run from Jaedeyn Edwards off sophomore relief pitcher Elias Torres (Long Beach Poly HS), who took the loss. The Warriors added three more runs in the eighth inning off sophomore pitcher JJ Almeda (Warren HS), with two of them coming on a home run.

Freshman outfielder Anthony Godfrey (Long Beach Millikan HS) went 3-for-4 on the day, with Ormonde turning in a pair of hits.
