Playing in their final game of the season, the Cerritos College baseball team dropped a 6-2 decision to Long Beach City College at Kincaid Field on Friday.

Offensively, the Falcons (10-29, 6-18) had baserunners in eight of the nine innings, but could not capitalize. They left a runner on third base in five consecutive innings with seven of the 12 runners left on in scoring position.

Down 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Cerritos got on the board. Freshman first baseman Ryan Skjonsby (Long Beach Poly HS), who went 4-for-4 on the day, led off with a base hit. Consecutive singles from freshman designated hitter Anthony Godfrey (Long Beach Millikan HS) and sophomore third baseman Carlos Vega (Mary Star of the Sea HS/Los Angeles Harbor College) loaded the bases with one out. The lone run of the inning came on a sacrifice fly from freshman catcher Conner Sullivan (Palos Verdes HS), which plated Skjonsby.

Sophomore second baseman Andy Vega (Mary Star of the Sea HS) led off the bottom of the ninth inning by getting hit by a pitch and was able to move to third base on a throwing error after sophomore shortstop Julian Francois (Serra HS) lined out. Vega scored on a sacrifice fly from sophomore outfielder Dean Ormonde (Long Beach Millikan HS).
