After playing the last 2 1/2 season in locations such as Gahr High School, Biola University, Cal Poly Pomona and Hope International University, the Cerritos College men's basketball team will host their first game in The Aviary on Friday at 6:00 p.m. against Pasadena City College. The gym, which was under construction the last several years, has been released to the college so they can host the Lancers in a South Coast Conference game.

According to Dr. Dan Smith, Dean/HPEDA, "We are so pleased to return to our gym. It is a facility that will meet the needs of the campus and community for years to come. The functionality of the new facility far exceeds the previous gym. We can offer more classes and offer them more effectively."

The Falcons (10-7, 4-0), who are in first place in the South Coast Conference South Division, struggled the last two seasons while practicing and playing off campus. But with the team anticipating the opportunity to play in the renovated gym (they will continue to practice off campus), their play has seemed to improve in the last few weeks. Cerritos started construction on the renovations for the gym - named "The Avairy" - back in June, 2010.

It has already been announced that the college will host the 2013-14 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships.
