In a non-conference game at Citrus College on Friday, the Cerritos College men's basketball team shot just 41% (24-of-59) from the field and suffered a 77-63 loss. The setback drops the Falcons record to 3-2 on the year, with the team taking to the road once again to face Allan Hancock College next Wednesday.

Down 16-13 midway through the first half, Cerritos went 7:20 before scoring their next points, as they went a combined 0-for-6 from the field with three turnovers before a layup by sophomore Jaishon Forte (Rancho Verde HS) snapped the skid. The Falcons entered halftime trailing, 37-28 to the Owls (4-1).

Another dry spell in the second half turned a 49-38 game into a 56-39 deficit until an Andre Fields (Warren HS) bucket. However, the Falcons could not get under a double-digit deficit and went on to suffer the loss.

Freshman Malik Johnson (Compton HS) led the team with 17 points, which included four 5-for-8 from the field, while sophomore Cerroy Chenault (Warren HS) added 10 points. Forte, who finished with nine points, led the team with 11 rebounds, with sophomore Juice Belvin (St. Anthony HS) accounting for eight points and three rebounds.
