In a game that saw 13 lead changes, the Cerritos College men's basketball team was unable to come away with a win against Los Angeles Southwest College, as they dropped a 64-60 decision. The South Coast Conference South Division setback snapped a four-game winning streak, as the Falcons (14-6, 1-1) will travel to first place Los Angeles Harbor College next Wednesday in a 7:00 p.m. game.

With the lead going back and forth in the latter part of the second half, the Cougars (10-8, 2-0) took a 58-56 lead with 2:04 remaining after Kendall Collins hit a three-pointer. On the Falcons next possession, sophomore Jalen Shores (Lakewood HS), who had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists on the night, missed on a long range three-point attempt. LA Southwest came down and was fouled, with Collins converting one of two free throws.

Trailing by three (59-56), the next Cerritos possession saw freshman Gary Williams (Dominguez HS), who recorded 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals, also missed on a long three-point attempt with :36 seconds remaining. Koron Davis, who made 13-of-16 free throws in the game, made both of his attempts after getting fouled. With just :10 seconds left, sophomore Gorden Boykins (St. Anthony HS) scored on a layup to get the Falcons to within 62-60, but Davis was fouled and made his two shots from the line to close out the scoring.

Boykins led the team with 13 points, while dishing out five assists and hauled down four rebounds, while sophomore Everett May (Los Alamitos HS) led the team with a trio of three-pointers and scored 11 points off the bench. Sophomore Justin Stephens (Gahr HS) had a good defensive effort with seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
