Leading 53-51 with 1:25 left in the second half, the Cerritos College men's basketball team was able to hold off host Los Angeles Harbor College and posted a South Coast Conference South Division win on Wednesday. The 54-51 final score win was the 11th in a row for the Falcons (18-9, 9-0), who close out the regular season by hosting rival Long Beach City College at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

The 54 points were the lowest scoring output for the Falcons this season.

The Seahawks had a chance to tie the game twice, but missed the front end of a one-and-one situation and then two more free throws, while sophomore Taeo Thomas (Verbum Dei HS) converted one of two free throws with two seconds left to account for the team's final point. LA Harbor was unable to get off a shot in the final 1:25.

Entering the second half with a 23-18 lead, Cerritos scored the first 12 points of the second half to open up a 35-18 advantage. Sophomore Miles Ceballos (Crossroads HS/Ventura College) scored the first seven points for Cerritos, with Thomas knocking down a pair of jumpers during the stretch.

A three-point play from sophomore Everett May (Los Alamitos HS) made it a 40-22 game, and after freshman Dillon Botts (Mayfair HS) knocked down a three-pointer, they had their largest lead of the game (43-22) with 13:10 remaining.

A four-minute scoring drought allowed LA Harbor to get to within 46-37 and it was a three-point advantage at 47-44 with 4:19 remaining. Botts knocked down a pair of free throws to hold off the Seahawks once again, which turned out to be the eventual game-winning points.

Thomas finished with a team-high 18 points, eight rebounds and three steals off the bench, with Ceballos checking in with 15 points and four caroms.
