As the South Coast Conference regular season nears the end, the Cerritos College men's soccer team is starting to heat up more than ever with their offensive output. On Tuesday, the Falcons (15-0-2, 7-0-0), who are ranked #2 in the country and #1 in the state, posted a 5-0 conference win over host Los Angeles Harbor College. It maked the fifth time this season Cerritos scored at least five goals in a game and have scored 23 goals in their last seven games. Cerritos has two regular season conference games remaining and will host Compton College (4-7-4, 2-3-2) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Although they maintained possession of the ball for the majority of the first half, it only netted a single goal. The second half proved to be more productive, as they wore down the Seahawks (2-14-4, 1-6-0) and were rewarded with four more goals.

Freshman Kobe Chavez (North Hollywood HS), who scored the first goal of the game in the 18th minute, would go on to record his third two-goal game of the season and is now second on the team with nine goals. Joining him with a two-goal game was sophomore Antonio Negrete (St. John Bosco HS), who stayed on Chavez's heels and now has eight goals on the season.

The Falcons scored their four second half goals in the span of 15 minutes, with the final two coming a little over a minute apart. Negrete, who assisted on the first goal by Chavez, scored his first goal of the game in the 47th minute, with sophomore Gabriel Oropeza (Banning HS/Hope International University) getting the assist. After Chavez finished the play on a nice feed from sophomore Raul Ortiz (Oscar De La Hoya HS/East Los Angeles College) in the 51st minute for the third goal of the game, Negrete made it 4-0 in the 61st minute, thanks to a lead pass from sophomore Johan Duenas (Warren HS). Cerritos closed out the scoring in the 62nd minute when sophomore Allen Perez (Norwalk HS) sent a nice crossing pass to freshman Jason Alvarez (Norwalk HS) and he put away his second goal of the season.

The defense did a stellar job against LA Harbor, which led to freshman goalkeeper Steven Ruiz (Cathedral HS) only asked to make one save.
