M. Soccer: Cerritos has six named to all-conference teams

A trio of Cerritos College men's soccer players were named 1st Team All-South Coast Conference South Division, while three more earned 2nd Team recognition. Freshmen Donavan Perez (South East HS) and Miguel Gonzalez were joined by sophomore Kevin Meza (ASU Preparatory Academy HS/Northern Illinois University) on the 1st Team, with sophomore Juan Pablo Camacho (Norwalk HS) along with freshmen Luis Medina (California Connections Academy HS) and Jose Lopez (MY Academy HS) received 2nd Team recognition.

Perez led the team with 10 goals on the season and added seven assists, with three of his goals game-winners. He opened his collegiate career with a two-goal game against College of the Desert and also scored twice against Compton College. He posted a goal and two assists against Imperial Valley College. Perez was a missed penalty kick away from a hat trick in the game against College of the Desert, while he went a four-game span where his goals were game-winners. Second on the team with six goals, Gonzalez also added five assists on the year. He scored goals in three of his first five starts, while he accounted for the team's lone goal in a 2-1 overtime playoff loss to Long Beach City College that ended the season. As for Meza, he scored five times from his defensive position and also added an assist. He scored goals in back-to-back games twice, which included a goal and assist against Los Angeles Harbor College.

Camacho, who entered his sophomore season without suffering sa loss (6-0-2), went 9-4-2 on the year with 64 saves and a 1.50 goals against average. Seven of his wins came in a complete game effort, which included an eight-save performance in a win over Rio Hondo College. He registered three complete game shutouts and played in role in two others. Medina started 21 of the 22 Falcon games this season and recorded two goals and two assists, with both of his goals being game-winners. He accounted for the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Taft College, while in each game he registered a goal or assist Cerritos posted a shutout win. Lopez led the team with nine assists and also scored four goals on the year. He had back-to-back two-assist performances against Compton College and Rio Hondo College, with the Falcons going 7-0-2 in games he recorded a point. Lopez also had a goal and assist against both Los Angeles Harbor College and Long Beach City College.
