From 2018-19, Bryan Ortega was a member of the Cerritos College men's soccer program. After helping them win the program's first National Championship, as well as their fourth 3C2A State Championship his freshman season, followed by another appearance in the state tournament, Ortega signed with Cal State Los Angeles. He spent the 2022 and 2023 season with the Golden Eagles and led them in goals as a senior. It was announced that Ortega has now signed with the Los Angeles Force, a team in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA).

Bryan Ortega with the Falcons in 2019 While with the Falcons, Ortega played in 50 games and registered 24 goals and 10 assists, which included three goals and three assists during the team's 2018 playoff run. Ortega was named 1st Team All-American and 1st Team All-South Coast Conference his sophomore season, while he received 2nd Team all-conference recognition his freshman year.

Ortega (pictured, left with the Falcons) finished second on the team with 15 goals and added six assists his sophomore campaign. He scored 12 of his goals on the road, which included hat tricks at both Taft College and El Camino College, while he also produced a two-goal game at Rio Hondo College. In the team's 4-1 win over Oxnard College that sent the team to the Final Four, Ortega posted a pair of assists.

As a member of the Cal State LA team, Ortega helped them win a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournaments, while they also won two straight NCAA Division II Super Region 4 titles and advances to the  Final Four. They ended their season with a record of 18-1-3 record, equaling the program record for fewest losses in a season.

Ortega was named All-American both season from the United Soccer Coaches, as he was a 1st Team choice his senior year and 3rd Team as a junior. He led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 10 goals and four assists for 24 points. He finished his Cal State LA career with 16 goals and nine assists for 41 points in 40 games played. Ortega earned first-team All-CCAA honors both seasons, as well as 1st All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches and DII CCA.

Now with the LA Force, who play their home games at Championship Soccer Stadium, which is located at Orange County Great Park in Irvine. They open their season on Wednesday, March 20 against Redlands FC in the US Open Cup at Long Beach City College.
