Competing against Pasadena City College and host Mt. San Antonio College on Friday, the Cerritos College men's swimming team split with the two schools in a South Coast Conference meet. The Falcons (1-2) recorded a 96-82 win over the Lancers, while they dropped a 219-27 decision to the host Mounties. The team will host their first meet of the season next Friday when they take on El Camino College in another conference affair.

Cerritos swimmers finished ahead of Pasadena City swimmers in eight of the events, while their best result was a trio of third place finishes against Mt. San Antonio.

The duo of Max Lucero (Whittier HS) and Diego Campos (Downey HS) recorded a pair of first place results against the Lancers, while the two made up half of the 400-yard relay team that defeated Pasadena City in the final event of the day.

Lucero recorded a time of 1:09.65 in the 100-yard backstroke, while his clocking of 1:06.76 earned the team first place points in the 100-yard butterfly. As for Campos, his time of 2:45.05 easily defeated the lone Lancer swimmer in the 200-yard breaststroke, while he turned in a time of 1:09.29 for his second first place finish of the day. Teammate Declan Nelson (Corona HS) was right behind Campos in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:19.25.

The 400-yard relay quartet of Johan Gaytan (Downey HS), Campos, Brandon Alcala (Warren HS) and Lucero edged out the Lancers by four seconds to earn first place team points. 

Also finishing ahead of Pasadena swimmers in events were Nelson in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.35), Alcala in the 200-yard butterfly (2:40.02) and Gaytan in the 200-yard backstroke (2:28.43).
