During the month of October, there was no better male athlete in the state than Cerritos College sophomore water polo player Angel Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela). The most celebrated water polo player in Falcon history, Rojas was named the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Athlete of the Month for October, 2016. It marks the second time he has received the award and joins former Cerritos swimmer PJ Gabayeron as the only two-time male recipient.

The most prolific scorer in Falcon history, Rojas scored 71 goals, with 32 assists and 27 steals in the 14 games played during the month. Against Mt. San Antonio College, he posted nine goals and six assists, while he recorded eight goals in another game and seven goals in two other contests.

Rojas finished the season with 138 goals, while adding 68 assists and 63 steals on a team that was second in the state in goals scored (471). He finished his Falcon career as the school record holder for goals in a season (155), single season assists (99), single season steals (105), career goals (293), career assists (167) and career steals (168).

Back in September, 2015, Rojas earned the Athlete of the Month Award after accounting for 78 goals, 39 assists and 60 steals in the 15 games played that month. He had nine goals in a game that month and also set a new school record with 10 steals in another game.

Cerritos leads the state with 20 overall Athlete of the Month awards, with the men and women each receiving the award 10 times.
