On Wednesday, the Cerritos College men's water polo team extended their winning streak to eight games in a row after posting a 16-7 South Coast Conference victory over visiting El Camino College. The Falcons (14-6 overall) also improved to 2-0 in conference play and won't play again until they host the Cerritos Mini Tournament II on October 13.

The consistent Falcons scored four goals in each of the four periods and led 8-1 in the second period before going into halftime on top, 8-3. Freshmen Johan Gayton (Downey HS) and Joshua Lamberton (Glendora HS) helped Cerritos open up their convincing first half lead with a pair of goals, as the team scored five goals off the transition of bad El Camino passes.

The Warriors opened the second half scoring before four different players scored for the Falcons in the third period, while they also scored the final three goals of the game after El Camino drew to within 13-7.

The trio of Gayton, Lamberton and sophomore Silvestre Chavez (Downey HS) each scored three times in the win, while Chavez also assisted on four goals. Freshman Diego Diaz (Montebello HS) added three assists, while sophomore goalkeeper Diego Campos (Downey HS) earned the win in net after playing the first half and posted five saves. Freshman Henry De Luna Pena (Baldwin Park HS) was in goal for the second half and turned away six shots.
