M. Water Polo: Team has 10 players earn All-Conference honors

Led by freshman Joshua Lamberton (Glendora HS), the Cerritos College men's water polo team had 10 of their players earn All-South Coast Conference recognition. Along with Lamberton, freshman goalkeeper Diego Campos (Downey HS), along with freshmen Timothy Robles (Schurr HS) and Jacob Colon (Schurr HS) earned 1st Team honors. The trio of sophomores Allan Jimenez (Schurr HS) and Kobe Hurtado (Cerritos HS), along with freshman Diego Diaz (Montebello HS), were named to the 2nd Team. Those who were added to the honorable mention list included Silvestre Chavez (Downey HS), Eric Estrada (Cerritos HS) and Ruben Montoya (California HS).

Lamberton, who led the Falcons with 81 goals in spite of missing five games, while he also contributed 32 assists and 20 steals, while his 58 exclusions also paced the team. He scored a season-high eight goals against Southwestern College and accounted for five goals in four other games. Lamberton posted a season-high three assists and three steals in two separate games and drew a critical seven exclusions in the playoff win against Mt. San Antonio College that sent the team to the state tournament.

Campos started 23 of the 33 games in which he played and recorded 213 saves, while posting a 12-8 record. He made a season-high 12 saves in the season-opener against UC Merced, and finished with double-digit saves five times during the year. Campos also assisted on 10 goals and made 32 steals.

Robles played in all 34 games and recorded 68 goals to go along with 56 assists and 37 steals, which were all the second most on the team. He scored a season-high six goals against both Los Angeles Valley College and Cuesta College, while assisting on a season-high four goals twice during the season. Colon was third on the team with 52 goals to go along with 41 assists and 36 steals. He also drew 43 exclusions during the year. He posted a season-high four goals against El Camino College and scored three times in seven other games. He dished out four assists against Mt. San Antonio College and had a season-high three steals in three separate games.

Both Hurtado and Jimenez were 1st Team selections their freshman years, with Hurtado recording 49 goals, with 26 assists and 38 steals on the year. As for Jimenez, he produced 48 goals too go along with 30 assists and 28 steals. Chavez concluded his Falcon career as a two-time honorable mention choice.
