Making their first appearance in the 3C2A State Championships since 2012, the Cerritos College men's water polo team saw their season come to an end after a 25-9 loss to West Valley College. The Falcons (22-12), who came into the state tournament as the #4-seeded team from Southern California, dropped a 19-7 decision to the Vikings, #1-seeded team from Northern California, earlier in the season.

Back in 2012, Cerritos defeated West Valley, 20-18 in overtime of the state third place game. It was the highest finish for a Falcon team since they won the state championship in 1966.

The Falcons fell behind early and could never get things going against West Valley. They trailed 9-1 after the first period, and although they scored four times in the second period, allowed eight more goals in the third period.

Freshman Timothy Robles (Schurr HS) led the team with four goals and also assisted on two others, while the duo of freshmen Diego Diaz (Montebello HS) and Joshua Lamberton (Glendora HS) scored twice.
