Facing Los Angeles Harbor College on Thursday in a South Coast Conference game, a pair of Cerritos College softball pitchers tossed a two-hitter in a 7-1 win. The Falcons (11-4, 3-2) will come right back on Friday at noon at Nancy Kelly Field to take on Pasadena City College in another conference game.

Freshman starting pitcher Samantha Islas (Roosevelt HS) retired the first nine batters before giving way to freshman Courtney Callison (Santa Fe HS), who tossed the final four innings to earn the win. Callison (3-3) allowed a pair of singles in her outing, while a hit batter came around to score for the Seahawks in the sixth inning, which accounted for their lone run.

Cerritos got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when freshman catcher Vicky Najera (El Rancho HS) singled, moved to second on a sacrifice and then scored on a base hit by freshman first baseman Richere Leduc (California HS). It was the three runs in the bottom of the second that would eventually secure the team enough runs. With the bases loaded, freshman Angelica Gonzalez (Sierra Vista HS) drove in the first run with a bunt single, while RBI singles from freshman Alyssa Sotelo (El Rancho HS) and Najera followed.

Then, in the third inning, freshman Maddy Guillen (La Puente HS) hit a home run in her third consecutive game, while an error opened the door for the Falcons to score twice in the fifth inning. Freshman Negasse Williams (Aliso Niguel HS) took advantage with an RBI single, while freshman pinch-hitter Ariana Hamilton (Downey HS) drew a bases loaded walk to force in the team's final run.
