Taking a six-game winning streak into their non-conference game at Cypress College on Saturday, the Cerritos College softball team saw it come to an end with a 6-3 loss. The Falcons (14-5), who return to South Coast Conference action, will travel to El Camino College on Thursday for a 3:00 p.m. game.

The Chargers (12-3) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with three runs, thanks in part to a Falcon error on the opening play of the inning. But Cerritos was able to tie the game at 3-3, as freshman third baseman Brooklyn Bedolla (Mayfair HS) drove in all three runs.

In the top of the second inning, Bedolla hit a one-out solo home run, while she doubled in a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Freshman catcher Vicky Najera (El Rancho HS) led off the inning by drawing a walk, and after freshman shortstop Miranda Diaz (California HS) sacrificed her to second base, she took third on a single by freshman first baseman Richere Leduc (California HS). Bedolla stepped up with two outs and tied the game with her two-run double.

However, Cypress was able to touch up freshman pitcher Samantha Islas (Roosevelt HS) for a single run in the bottom of the fourth inning and two more in the fifth inning. Of the nine hits she allowed, five were for extra bases and saw her record drop to 9-2 on the year.
