After spotting visiting Southwestern College an early 1-0 lead, the Cerritos College softball team scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning to help them post a 9-1 win on Wednesday. The Falcons (3-4) will now host Riverside City College at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

Down 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second inning, Cerritos scored three times in the bottom of the inning and were aided by a Jaguars error. Sophomore shortstop Miranda Diaz (California HS) drew a one-out walk and advanced to second base when sophomore third baseman Brooklyn Bedolla (Mayfair HS) reached base on an error. Sophomore designated player Maddy Guillen (La Puente HS) loaded the bases with a single, while a base hit from freshman pinch-hitter Natalie Basurto (Walnut HS) tied the game. All runners were safe, and another run scored when sophomore outfielder Alyssa Capps (Downey HS) hit into a fielder's choice, while an infield single from sophomore second baseman Alyssa Sotelo (El Rancho HS) brought home the third run of the inning.

Sophomore pitcher Courtney Callison (Santa Fe HS) scattered five hits and allowed just a lead-off solo home run in the second inning to earn the win. After allowing the home run, Callison (1-1) retired seven in a row and worked out of a first-and-third jam in the fourth by striking out Daniela Sandez for the third out. The Jaguars (2-11-1) loaded the bases in the top of the sixth inning, but freshman right fielder Jazmine Macias (La Mirada HS) was able to get in front of a potential base hit from Devyn Krystek and threw her out at first base for the final out.

Cerritos ended the game in the sixth inning by scoring four time to invoke the eight-run mercy rule. Sophomore first baseman Richere Leduc (California HS) led off with a double - her second of the game - followed by an infield hit from Macias. The bases were loaded after freshman outfielder Marley Manalo (Walnut HS) singled. After a force out at home, Bedolla drove in a pair with a single, while sophomore catcher Emily Zuniga (Warren HS) ended the game with a two-run base hit.
