Softball: Falcons pull away from LA Harbor, 9-1

On Tuesday, the Cerritos College softball team scored in every inning, as they posted a 9-1, 5-inning South Coast Conference win over Los Angeles Harbor College. The win was the fifth in the last six games for the Falcons (7-5, 2-1), who will host El Camino College at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Sophomore second baseman Alyssa Sotelo (El Rancho HS) led the way by driving in three runs on three hits from her leadoff position. She reached base four times on the day, as she also drew a walk and also stole a base. Driving in a pair of runs for the Falcons was sophomore first baseman Richere Leduc (California HS), while sophomore third baseman Brooklyn Bedolla (Mayfair HS) drew a pair of walks and scored three times.

As a team, Cerritos drew nine walks, with freshman catcher Jimena Velazquez (Fullerton HS) getting walked three times, while Leduc, sophomore outfielder Alyssa Capps (Downey HS) and sophomore designated player Maddy Guillen (La Puente HS) all collecting a pair of hits and drove in a run.

Sophomore pitcher Samantha Islas (Roosevelt HS) tossed a complete game and limited the Seahawks to just three hits while striking out five batters.
