Thirteen different players had at least one hit and eight drove in runs as the Cerritos College softball team defeated Compton College, 14-0 in five innings on Friday. The Falcons (19-12, 11-5) will look to win their 20th game of the season for the 33rd time in school history when they travel to East Los Angeles College for a 3:00 p.m. South Coast Conference game on Monday.

Cerritos opened the game by scoring four times in the first inning, with freshman catcher Jimena Velazquez (Fullerton HS) driving home a pair with a two-out double. The team also stole three bases in the first inning and registered five of their 18 hits on the day.

A trio of pitchers saw action in the game, with freshman Jazmine Macias (La Mirada HS) seeing her first action of the season in the circle. She retired all three batters she faced, while sophomores Maddy Guillen (La Puente HS) and Courtney Callison (Santa Fe HS) each pitched two innings with Guillen earning the win.

Guillen also played a role in the Falcons seven-run second inning with her three-run home run with two outs. Sophomores Richere Leduc (California HS), Monique Rangel (Santa Fe HS/Fullerton College) and Emily Zuniga (Warren HS) all drove in runs in the inning, with the latter two coming as pinch-hitters.

Sophomore Samantha Islas (Roosevelt HS), who is the team's top pitcher, came to the plate for the first time on the year and laced a leadoff double in the third inning.

Macias, Leduc, Zuniga, freshman Celeste Carbajal (Mayfair HS) and sophomore Miranda Diaz (California HS) all had a pair of hits for Cerritos, with Zuniga and Velazquez each driving in two runs.
