Aside from the third inning when visiting Mt. San Antonio College scored six times, the Cerritos College softball team was one swing away from tying the game. The Mounties posted a 7-0 South Coast Conference win over the Falcons at Nancy Kelly Field on Tuesday to drop the Falcons to 12-7 overall and 4-4 in conference play. Cerritos travels to Pasadena City College for a 2:30 p.m. conference game on Thursday.

The Falcons, who had runners on base in each inning, could not get on the board and were also victimized by a pair of double plays and one bad baserunning mistake.

In that fateful third inning, Mt. SAC slapped out eight straight hits off sophomore Reanna Carranza (El Rancho HS) after the first out was recorded to account for six of their runs. They also received a solo home run from Janis Espinoza to lead off the fourth inning.

Looking to get back into the game, Cerritos loaded the bases in the fifth inning after consecutive hits from sophomore outfielders Jocelyn Doan (Walnut HS) and Jazmine Macias (La Mirada HS), as well as sophomore third baseman Natalie Basurto (Walnut HS). However, the next two batters could not come through with a critical hit.

On the day, the Falcons had nine hits, with Macias going 4-for-4.
