With just one game remaining in their regular season, the Cerritos College women's basketball team remains in a tie for first place in the South Coast Conference South Division. On Friday, the Falcons (18-8, 8-1) defeated host Compton College, 84-26 and will host Los Angeles Southwest College (0-16, 0-5) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Just like in their first meeting, the Falcons received balanced scoring, as five players turned in double-digit scoring. They also forced 36 Compton (4-15, 1-7) turnovers, while only committing eight on their own. A 58-28 rebounding advantage also played a role in their lopsided victory.

In each of the four quarters, Cerritos was able to score over 20 points, while keeping the Lady Tartars in single digits. Aside from an early 3-2 deficit, the Falcons never trailed in the game.

Sophomore Therese Zekajj (Legacy HS) led the way with a double-double, as she finished with 10 points and 15 rebounds, while also adding five steals, with freshman Brianna Flores (Norwalk HS) leading all scorers with 16 points, and also pulled down nine rebounds. Coming off the bench, freshman Dominique Harrison (John Glenn HS) registered 15 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Precious Yerena (Downey HS) turned in 13 points and recorded a career-high eight steals. Also finishing with 10 points was freshman Izabella Apodaca (La Serna HS), who also had four rebounds and four assists.
