Locked in a back and forth game with visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday night, the Cerritos College women's basketball team eventually puled away for a 71-60 win. The win by the Falcons (5-6) snapped a three-game skid, with the team now traveling to San Diego Mesa College on Friday for a 5:00 p.m. game.

Coming out of the half holding on to a 31-27 lead, Cerritos saw the Panthers (1-10) pull ahead, 40-39 with 3:40 remaining in the third quarter. However, freshman Makayla Moore (Norwalk HS) responded with a three-pointers to held the Falcons regain the lead, 42-40. The teams traded baskets the remainder of the quarter, with Cerritos leading, 47-44 with 10 minutes remaining.

A 10-0 run by the Falcons opened up a 59-46 lead, thanks in part to a pair of three-pointers from sophomore Cynthia Almanzar (John Glenn HS), while freshman Bridgette McIntyre (St. Anthony HS) hit a three-pointer with 3:24 remaining to make it a 62-51 advantage. In the final minute, McIntyre and sophomore Brianna Flores (Norwalk HS) converted a pair of free throws, with sophomore Ashley Miller (Paramount HS) connectting on 3-of-4 from the free throw line to secure the win.

McIntyre finished the night with 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals, with Almanzar coming off the bench to contribute 16 points, which included three three-pointers, along with five rebounds. Flores turned in a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, with freshman Akayla Burton (El Segundo HS) adding seven points and three rebounds off the bench.
