Although they played the first 45 minutes without scoring, the Cerritos College women's soccer team still posted a 6-0 South Coast Conference home win against Pasadena City College on Tuesday. The Falcons (18-0-1, 12-0-1), ranked #1 in the country, state and Southern California, have not lost a game since a 4-2 decision to the Lancers back on November 6, 2013, a span of 25 games (24-0-1). During their unbeaten streak, Cerritos has now outscored their opponents, 116-10. They will travel to Mt. San Antonio College for their final South Coast Conference game on Friday and then wait for the Southern California Regional Playoffs seeding.

The scoring opened in the 50th minute when freshman Demi Lomeli (Bishop Amat HS), was fouled in the box, which allowed sophomore Claudia Lopez (Downey HS) to step in and score on a penalty kick. That seemed to settle the offense, as they attacked the PCC (6-6-7, 4-4-4) defense and goalkeeper Angie Ulmer. It was a 2-0 game in the 53rd minute when freshman Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS) scored her 14th goal of the season on a header off a crossing pass from freshman Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS).

Finding a soft spot in the Lancer defense, freshman Krista Velasco (Downey HS) fed a pass to a streaking Lopez, who controlled the ball and scored in one quick motion. It was the 19th goal of the season for Lopez, who trails only Requejo for the team lead. Less than three minutes later, Requejo picked up her 23rd of the year when she chipped the ball into the short side of the net on a nice pass from freshman Cassie Reyes (Bishop Amat HS), who is working her way back into the lineup after an injury.

The final two goals of the game were the prettiest, as sophomore Jasmine Cornejo (Artesia HS) used her 5-1 frame and found position in the box on a corner kick from Celinna Montano (Warren HS), where she headed the ball into the net past Ulmer. Sophomore Jennifer Torres (Firebaugh HS) saved the best for last when she scored in a back heel kick on a pass that seemed to be off line. Cornejo sent the ball toward Torres, who had planted herself at the corner of the net. Seeing that the ball was not where she wanted it, Torres flicked the ball with her heel and directed it into the goal.

The recipient of all the offense was freshman goalkeeper Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS), who improved to 7-0-0 on the year with a four-save shutout.
