W. Soccer: Cerritos drops first game of conference tournament

In their South Coast Conference Tournament opening game, the Cerritos College women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to host Pasadena City College on Friday. The Falcons (4-12-1), who came into the tournament as the #6-seeded team, will close ourt their season next Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. when they travel to El Camino College for the seventh place game.

The Lancers (15-2-4) jumped on Cerritos early and scored twice within the first 2:30 of the game for a quick 2-0 advantage. The Falcons defense regrouped and found their footing, as they limited Pasadena City to just one more second half goal.

Cerritos had several scoring chances, but were turned away and kept off the scoresheet. The trio of Giselle Ramirez (Smidt Tech HS), Madelynn Jones (Liberty HS) and Jaque Adame (North Torrance HS) each had a pair of shots on goal, while goalkeeper Victoria Ruiz (Applied Technology Center HS) made eight saves on the day.
