On Friday in their first road match of the season, the Cerritos College volleyball team was swept by host Saddleback College, 25-19, 25-18, 25-14. The Falcons (1-1) will play their second of three straight matches against Orange Empire Conference teams on Wednesday when they travel to Cypress College for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference match.

In the loss to the Gauchos (2-0), Cerritos had their struggles with passing and were charged with 19 ball-handling errors. As a team, the Falcons hit a respectable .270 at the net, with freshman Jackie Dixon (Gahr HS) leading the team with six kills. The trio of sophomores Brooke Winquist (Carlsbad International School, Czechia), Alexia Torres (Downey HS) and Sierra Hernandez-Hardy (Bishop Amat HS) all added four kills, with sophomore setter Mirka Granoble (Downey HS) accounting for three kills and 17 assists.

Freshman Cameron Puente (Mayfair HS) was affective at the net with a pair of solo blocks to go along with a trio of kills. Dixon, Hernandez-Hardy and freshman Marissa Reyna (Norwalk HS) tied for the team lead with three digs each.
