On Tuesday, the Cerritos College volleyball team swept past host West Los Angeles College, 25-11, 25-19, 25-20 for their third straight win of the season. The Falcons (3-1) will turn right around and travel to Golden West College on Wednesday for a 5:00 p.m. non-conference match.

In the win over West LA, the Falcons received double-digit kills from freshman Aiyana Sierra (La Mirada HS), who hit a stellar .444 at the net, while freshman Jayda Harris-Amete (La Mirada HS) contributed nine kills and supported the back row with six digs. The offensive distribution continued with freshman Maleah Gonzales (Schurr HS) adding six kills with the duo of freshmen Marissa Mendibles (Downey HS) and Abigail Gutierrez (Downey HS) each finishing with four kills.

Cerritos jumped out quickly in the first set and carried that momentum into the next set and then closed out the match for the sweep. Freshman setter Carissa Mendibles (Downey HS) was remarkable at times and dished out 28 assists, while adding eight digs, with Gutierrez leading the team with 13 digs. The Falcons had eight services aces in the win.
