Volleyball: Breanna Lizarraga named conference's Libero of the Year

Complete All-Conference teams

One of the strongest assets of the Cerritos College volleyball team this season was their ability to extend rallies with their defensive prowess. Voted by the other coaches in the South Coast Conference as the best on defense was Falcon sophomore defensive specialist Breanna Lizarraga (Paramount HS), who was named the Libero of the Year in the conference. As a team, Cerritos went 4-17 on the season and 2-10 in conference play.

On the season, Lizarraga amassed 363 digs, which led the conference and ranked as the fifth most in a season in school history, while her 649 career digs ranks her second. She also led the team with 31 service aces and also added 38 assists. She had a season-high 29 digs against Pasadena City College and had over 20 digs in four matches.

Earing 1st Team all-conference honors for the second season in a row was Aiyana Sierra (La Mirada HS). She led the team with 162 kills, while adding 47 digs, 40 blocks and 22 service aces. She posted a season-high 12 kills against San Bernardino Valley College and recorded double digit kills in eight matches.

Sophomore setter Carissa Mendibles (Downey HS), who was a 1st Team selection as a freshman, received 2nd Team honors this season. She was joined by freshman Kaydence Portillo (Bell Gardens HS) on the all-conference 2nd Team. Mendibles registered 528 assists this season and also contributed 134 digs, 23 kills and 21 service aces. She finishes her career with 1,187 assists, which is the ninth most in a career in school history. Portillo was second on the team with 146 kills and chipped in with 43 digs and 28 blocks.
