Now in her first season on the Cerritos College coaching staff,
former Falcon player Stephanie Tuning is also preparing to play her
senior year at the University of LaVerne. In her junior year at
LaVerne, Tuning was joined on the team by her sister Nicole, who
played for the Falcons, as well as her younger sister Catie, who
will be playing for Cerritos this season. While with Cerritos in
2010-11, Tuning was named 1st Team All-South Coast Conference
as a sophomore after posting 36 goals and set a school record with
98 steals. In her freshman season, Tuning scored 20 goals and added
23 assists and 63 steals in the field, while she also saw time as
the goalkeeper and recorded 36 saves in eight games.
A graduate of Los Altos High, Tuning was named her school’s
Athlete of the Year as a senior after being named 1st Team
All-CIF, 1st Team All-San Gabriel Valley and 1st Team
All-Miramonte League. Additionally, Tuning was selected as the
league’s Female Athlete of the Year and named as one of the
Top 5 Athletes.
Tuning has prior coaching experience as the boys swim coach at Los
Altos High (2011-12), as well as the water polo and swimming coach
for the Conqueror Club team for the last four years. She is
currently majoring in Liberal Studies at the University of LaVerne
with an emphasis in art and history and is scheduled to graduate in
2014.
