Freshman catcher Alonso Reyes (Culver City HS) broke a 4-4 tie on Tuesday with a two-run home run in the eighth inning to help the Cerritos College baseball team to a 6-5 win over host Los Angeles Harbor College. The Falcons (12-4, 3-1) have now won three in a row and will host the Seahawks at 2:00 p.m. at Kincaid Field on Thursday.

Cerritos opened a 4-0 lead over LA Harbor (9-7, 2-2) before surrendering three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Sophomore starting pitcher Franky Lopez (Dominguez HS) was cruising through the first six innings, but surrendered a two-run triple in the bottom of the seventh inning. He then allowed the tying run before striking out Andrew Ravelo to end the inning.

Then, in the top of the eighth inning, sophomore Nico Briones (Long Beach Millikan HS) led off by getting hit by a pitch, which set the table for Reyes, who clubbed his second home run of the season.

Lopez gave up a pair of singles in the bottom of the eighth inning and stepped aside for sophomore Cade Sonoqui (Long Beach Millikan HS). With two outs and the bases loaded, Eric Mora singled for the Seahawks to drive in a run, while Briones threw Julian Galvan out at the plate trying to score from second base.

The Falcons got on the board in the top of the third when Reyes laced a one-out double. Sophomore designated hitter Marco Lopez (Narbonne HS/Vanguard University) drove him in for the first run of the inning, with Cerritos loading the bases after sophomore Mike Santos (Servite HS) was hit by a pitch and freshman outfielder Isaiah Rios (St. John Bosco HS) singled. Lopez then came home on a passed ball, while sophomore second baseman Anthony Bassett (Colegio Bautista de Managua, Nicaragua/Los Angeles Harbor College) drove in a run with a fielder's choice. The final run of the inning came on a two-out base hit from freshman outfielder Diego Orozco (Long Beach Wilson HS).

Marco Lopez led the team by going 4-for-5 with an RBI, while Rios had three and Reyes drove home a pair of runs while scoring twice. Franky Lopez (3-0), who earned the win, struck out eight batters with Sonoqui getting out of the eighth and recorded two outs in the ninth inning. After he hit Ravelo, sophomore Calix Armijo (Mary Star of the Sea HS) came on to record the final out and earn his fourth save of the year.
