On Tuesday, the Cerritos College men's soccer team played a scoreless draw with rival Long Beach City College in a South Coast Conference match. The tie game ran the Falcons unbeaten streak to five games (2-0-3) and the team will look to extend it on Friday when they play a 2:00 p.m. game against Los Angeles Harbor College at the Toyota Center in Torrance.

Missed opportunities by the Falcons, coupled with a couple of spectacular saves by sophomore goalkeeper Ivan Martin Del Campo (Granada Hills Kennedy HS) allowed the game to stay scoreless for the full 90 minutes. A diving save by Martin Del Campo in the 70th minute on a hard shot by Carlos Maldonado was one of three big saves in the final 20 minutes.

Cerritos had three great opportunities get away from them, with the first coming in the 15th minute on a shot by freshman Marc Calderon (Elizabeth Learning Center HS), who saw it barely deflected wide by LBCC goalkeeper Saul Ocampo. In the 37th minute, freshman Oscar Canela (Paramount HS) was just wide of the net on a crossing shot in the box, while freshman Guy Julien (National Haitian Student Alliance) came on in the second half and made an immediate offensive impact. He had a chance to get on the scoreboard, but his shot in the 53rd minute missed the upper corner of the net and the Falcons were turned away.

Martin Del Campo, who finished with seven saves on the day, also turned away Victor Naves and Ruben Martinez, who were able to get hard shots on net. Ocampo posted five saves for the Vikings.
