It was the second South Coast Conference meet of the year for the Cerritos College men's swimming team and their second split. On Friday, the Falcons (2-2) earned a 222-42 win over Los Angeles Trade-Tech College, but dropped a 166-121 decision to Long Beach City College. Next Friday, the team will travel to Pasadena City College for a conference meet against the Lancers and Rio Hondo College.

Earning the team's only two individual first place finishes was Jesus Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela), who won the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. The Falcons other first place came in the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay. In the 200-yard freestyle, Rojas posted a time of 1:50.33, which was seven seconds ahead of his closest competition, while his 55.73 clocking in the 100-yard butterfly was a little under two seconds ahead of the closest competition.

In his third race of the day, Rojas turned in a second place time of 2:12.79 in the 200-yard butterfly, with teammate Joel Bautista (Paramount HS) in third place at 2:28.53. Sophomores Mitchell Bowman (Lakewood HS) and Davey Brown (Whittier HS) took second place in a pair of events, with Ismael Castillo placing second in the 1000-yard freestyle in 12:28.95.

For Bowman, he recorded a second place time of 1:01.54 in the 100-yard backstroke, while his clocking of 2:15.59 earned his second place in the 200-yard backstroke. He was defeated by LBCC's Aaron Mowl in both races. Brown barely was defeated in the 50-yard freestyle, with his time of 22.81 just shy of Long Beach City's Mark Denison, who turned in a time of 22.79. Denison foiled Brown in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.14, with Brown touching up in 50.88.

In the diving event, Cerritos had both entries in the 1-meter event, with Randy Encarnacion (Mayfair HS) winning with 123.95 points, while teammate Edward Salgado (Paramount HS) came in second place. 

In the final race of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relaym, the quartet of Brown, Kevin De Leon (El Segundo HS), Daniel Loeza (Hamilton HS) and Rojas coming back to earn first place with a time of 3:29.45.
