Competing in their biggest meet of the season, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in fifth place at the SoCal Preview Meet on Friday. Competing against 26 other schools from Southern California, the Falcons compiled 164 team points and trailed only one South Coast Conference foe. Their point total was well off fourth place San Bernardino Valley College, who had 96 points, but was 56 points better than sixth place conference opponent El Camino College.

Running the four-mile course at Central Park in Santa Clarita, Cerritos turned in two of the top 25 times on the day out of the 305 entries. Finishing first for the team was sophomore Abraxaz Sanchez (Schurr HS), whose time of 21:46.7 put him in 10th place, while sophomore Luis Munoz (Downey HS) was part of nine runners that crossed the finish line within nine seconds of each other. His time of 22:14.17 put him in 25th place overall, with a trio of Falcon runners 23 spots apart to round out the team's scoring.

Freshman Miguel Lopez (Downey HS) edged out several runners to earn 41st place with his clocking of 22:33.2, with freshman Daniel Ramos (Warren HS) running a solid race to finish in 56th place overall with his time of 22:43.2. There were packs of runners with strong kicks at the end of the race and the Falcons were part of most of the early packs. Taking 64th place overall, and helping round out the team scoring was freshman Adrian Casas (Gahr HS), who posted a time of 22:51.8 to come in 64th place overall.

Also competing on the day for Cerritos were Angel Chavarria (Western HS; 23:12.1, 91st place), Cristhian Macias (Gardena HS; 23:22.2; 105th place), Alberto Cano (Norwalk HS; 23:25.9; 112th place), Ryan Bennett (California HS; 23:36.1; 120th place), Jamal Awad (Warren HS; 23:38.4; 124th place), Josiah Jackson (Mayfair HS; 24:07.7; 154th place), Kenneth Jones (Los Alamitos HS; 24:22.0; 170th place), Aleksie Dominguez (St. Paul HS; 24:40.9; 184th place), Walter Ramirez (Mayfair HS; 26:25.3; 239th place), Moises Rodriguez (El Rancho HS; 26:44.7; 251st place) and Clay Green (Los Alamitos HS; 27:51.5; 268th place).
