In their final South Coast Conference game, the Cerritos College softball team recorded a 12-3, 5-inning win over host East Los Angeles College on Monday. All that's left for the Falcons (27-11, 14-7) in the regular season are three rain make-up games, which starts with the team traveling to Antelope Valley College tomorrow for a double header.

Getting off to an early start, Cerritos scored twice in the top of the first inning. Sophomore outfielder Jazmine Macias (La Mirada HS) led off with a walk and promptly stole her 40th base of the season. She is now just one of four players to accomplish that feat in school history, and is closing in on the single-season record of 48 stole bases by Capree Williams in 2008. Macias currently leads the state with 43 stolen bases and is just one behind tying Joanna Perruccio, who stole 44 bases in 2014.

After sophomore third baseman Natalie Basurto (Walnut HS) drew a walk, the two pulled off a double-steal, with a throwing error allowing Macias to score. Basurto then came home on another Huskies error.

The Falcons increased their lead to 5-0 in the second inning with freshman Morgan Fontela (Long Beach Millikan HS) getting hit by a pitch allowing the inning to get started. A passed ball moved Fontela to second base, followed by a bunt single by sophomore outfielder Jocelyn Doan (Walnut HS), which put runners on first and third base. Macias followed with an RBI single to deep shortstop and proceeded to steal her third base of the game. With the bases loaded after a Basurto walk, Manalo doubled home a pair of runs.

Leading 7-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning. East Los Angeles was able to push three runs across the plate against sophomore pitcher Reanna Carranza (El Rancho HS), with all three runs being unearned.

They busted the game open with five runs in the top of the fifth inning when Doan reached base on another bunt single. She then stole second base, with Basurto, sophomore catcher Jimena Velazquez (Fullerton Union HS), sophomore designated player Celeste Carbajal (Mayfair HS) and freshman pinch-hitter Isabelle Casanova (Lakewood HS) all delivering RBI singles.

Manalo (3-for-4, two RBI), Macias (2-for-3, four runs, two RBI, four stolen bases), Basurto (2-for-2, two walks, two RBI) and Doan (2-for-3, two runs) all finishing with multiple-hit games.
