Now in her fifth season (no season was held in 2021 due to Covid-19) as the team’s pitching coach, Ashley Belmontes joined the staff during the season-shorted Covid year. In her time with the staff, she coached two-time 1st Team All-South Coast Conference pitcher Samantha Islas, who was also an All-State selection as a freshman.

A product of Gahr High, Belmontes was a four-time 1st Team All-San Gabriel Valley League selection. She was named the league’s Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore and selected the CIF Player of the Year her senior season. Her softball career prior to high school included winning an ASA National Championship in the 14U Division while playing for the Santa Fe Springs Rebels travel ball team.

Belmontes earned a scholarship to Arizona Western College and spent two seasons there before being signed by the Texas Thunder, where she spent the 2006-07 seasons. She then moved on to play for the I.S.F. Pride from 2007-08 and concluded her professional career with Easton, where she played from 2009-11.

Beginning her coaching career at Cantwell High, where she spent a year, Belmontes also spent two seasons at El Rancho High from 2014-15. Belmontes then moved on to teach private lessons for Extra Innings in Mesa, AZ from 2015-16 and was an assistant coach at Skyline (AZ) High from 2016-18.

Belmontes, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal from Westwood College in 2011.
