In their lowest scoring game of the season, the Cerritos College women's basketball team suffered a 55-35 South Coast Conference South Division loss to Long Beach City College on Wednesday night. The Falcons (10-17, 5-4) will close out their season on Friday at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to El Camino College. The 35 points was the lowest point production since they scored 34 points in a loss to El Camino back in 2008.

The Vikings (16-12, 7-2) opened an early 10-2 lead, until the Falcons received three-pointers from both freshman Alondra Calderon (La Serna HS) and sophomore Kaylyn James (Lakewood HS) to help them pull to a 12-12 tie after the first quarter. It was their abysmal two-point second quarter and five-point third quarter that put the team behind farther than they could recover.

At one point in the game, Cerritos went almost 18 minutes between baskets. Freshman Crystal Rodriguez (El Rancho HS) tied the game at 12-12 with five second left in the first quarter and they team didn't hit another bucket until there was 2:42 remaining in the third quarter when freshman Christina Mina (Bellflower HS) drained a three-pointer. The only points in the second quarter were a pair of free throws by freshman Alexis Clark (Mayfair HS).

James led the Falcons with 13 points and netted a trio of three-pointers, along with pulling down five rebounds. Rodriguez hauled down a team-high 11 rebounds, with Clark contributing six points and nine rebounds. As a team, Cerritos out-rebounded the Vikings, 45-38, but committed 26 turnovers, which contributed to their demise.

Long Beach City was led by Miranda Martinez, who had 21 points, while Ayerjenee Jeanmard recorded a triple-double (10 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists).
