With the end of the regular season in sight, the Cerritos College women's soccer team's offense is starting to fire on all cylinders. They posted a 6-1 South Coast Conference win over East Los Angeles College on Tuesday. The South Coast Conference win was their fourth in a row, as the Falcons have scored 28 goals during that span. They will now travel to Long Beach City College on Friday for a 4:00 p.m. game with only three games left in the regular season.

The six goals scored could easily have been more, but Cerritos, ranked #4 in the country by the NSCAA, had four shots ring off the crossbar by four different players. The scoring opened when freshman Claudia Ibarra (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) won the ball away from a Huskies defender and fed a pass to freshman Claudia Lopez (Downey HS), who defeated Belen Rodriguez on the crossing pass. Late in the first half, freshman Jasmine Cornejo (Artesia HS) headed home a pass from freshman Cristal Yantuche (Lakewood HS). It was a 3-0 Cerritos lead on a fine pass from sophomore Lauren Nanez (La Mirada HS) through the box to Yantuche, who chipped the ball into an unattended net.

The offense continued to gel as the game progressed, with Nanez heading home a nice crossing pass from freshman Jazmin Aguas (San Pasqual HS) in the 69th minute, while Aguas was the recipient of a nice crossing pass from freshman Jennifer Torres (Firebaugh HS) that landed directly onto her foot. The Falcons closed out the scoring in the final minutes when Ibarra sent her corner shot over the cluster of players in front of the net and right to sophomore Karina Sandoval (Universidad de Guadalajara HS), who scored.

Freshman goalkeeper Maria Santoyo (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) did not allow a goal in her 73 minutes and made a pair of saves, with sophomore Sandra Coto (Paramount HS) allowing the lone Huskies goal in the last minute of the game.
