After winning their eighth straight South Coast Conference championship, the defending state champion Cerritos College women's soccer team has been seeded #1 for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons (19-0-1) will host the winner of the #17-seeded Long Beach City-#16-seeded Saddleback play-in game at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday. Last season, the team swept through the playoffs to capture their third CCCAA state championship in the last six years and were ranked #1 in the country. They enter the post-season ranked #1 in the nation among Division II (non-scholarship schools) by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

A meeting against LBCC would be the third of the season, with the Falcons posting 3-0 and 4-0 South Coast Conference wins during the year. It would be the first meeting against Saddleback if the Gauchos posted a win in their Thursday play-in game. Saddleback (12-3-6) finished in fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Vikings (12-6-2) came in third place in the SCC.

In the first meeting with LB City, the Falcons scored all three of their goals in the second half, with freshman Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) accouting for two goals and freshman Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS) picking up a goal and assist. Requejo scored two second half goals in the second meeting, with Ornelas and freshman Clara Gomez (El Modena HS) also finding the back of the net in the win. Sophomore Alexis Carrillo (Bishop Amat HS) was in goal for both games and recorded two shutouts.

Tickets for the game will be $10 for General Admission and $7 for all identified students, staff, faculty, senior citizens age 60 and older and children under 12 years of age.
