For the second time in a week, the Cerritos College women's soccer team was defeated by Long Beach City College. The Falcons (5-10-2, 4-4-2) suffered a 2-0 setback to the Vikings in the first round of the South Coast Conference on Friday and will now play next Tuesday in the fifth place game, which will be their final contest of the season.
Just like their first meeting, the game was scoreless through the first half. Cerritos was able to get a pair of shots on goal, but could not get one past Vikings goalkeeper Joselynn Sotello, who went on to make seven saves in the game.
It was only three minutes into the second half when the Vikings broke the scoreless tie, and then added a an insurance goal in the 60th minute.
Six different Falcons recorded shots on goal, with freshman Nadiah Palomares (East Los Angeles Performing Arts Magnet HS) posting a pair. In fact, five of the seven shots on goal came from defenders for Cerritos.
