With a pair of games this week that sees the Cerritos College women's soccer team on the road, the team will look for a split after dropping a 1-0 decision to Taft College on Tuesday. The Falcons (2-2-0) will now head to Northern California to take on San Francisco City College for a 10:00 a.m. match.
The setback against Taft was the second in as many years, with the Falcons last defeating the Cougars in 2018.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie through the first half, with the Falcons getting off three shots, with one on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Victoria Ruiz (Applied Technology Center HS) turned away a pair of Cougars (3-2-0) shots in the first half. However, in the second half, Taft was able to get on the board in the 63rd minute, which turned out to be the game's only goal. Ruiz finished with four saves.
Cerritos, who has been shut out in their last two games, posted four shots on goal, with one each coming from four separate players.
