In their first competition of the season, the Cerritos College women's swimming team recorded a first place finish at the Waterman Relays, which was held at Palomar College. The Falcons compiled 509 team points, with San Diego Mesa College a distant second place with 317 points. The team will compete in the South Coast Conference Pentathlon this Friday at Mt. San Antonio College.

Cerritos took the top two places in the 100-yard breaststroke, as freshman Mia Carbajal (Schurr HS) bested the field with a time of 1:18.43 with freshman Amanda Acosta recording a second place time of 1:21.26 to edge two other swimmers. Sophomore Carolina Medrano (Schurr HS) finished second in 200-yard IM at 2:38.18, with teammates Karina Oliveros (Downey HS) and Nayeli Cisneros (Schurr HS) in the next two sports in 2:51.30 and 2:53.13, respectively.

Medrano also placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:10.53, while sophomore Elisabeth Stansell (Los Alamitos HS) recorded a time of 1:21.98 for a fifth place result in the 100-yard backstroke. The team also picked up a pair of first place finishes in relay races.
