The first time the Cerritos College baseball team met Santa Ana College 10 days ago, it was the Falcons (5-4) who came out victorious after holding the Dons (7-2-1) to just two hits. Today, on the other hand, the Dons got seven runs on 13 hits to get the 7-2 non-conference victory.

Cerritos, however, got the on the board first in the first inning after sophomore first baseman Brett Thompson (Corona del Mar HS/Saddleback College) hit a two-out double before eventually coming around to score when sophomore outfielder Shane Preston (Deer Creek, OK HS) drew a bases loaded walk.
But Santa Ana came back to tie the game at 1-1 in the third inning with Cameron Baranek reaching on a bunt single before stealing second base. Baranek would score when Tanner Negrete hit a RBI-single to left field off freshman starting pitcher Valentin Flores-Gomez (Gahr HS), who took the loss on the day.

It was the fifth inning when the Dons pulled away as they scored four runs on four hits while also utilizing a Falcons error to their advantage. Colin Winn led the frame off by reaching on an error before moving to second on a Baranek double. A pair of run-scoring singles were added, as was a sacrifice fly and RBI ground out.

The Falcons added another solo run in the top of the eighth inning, but could not generate any more offense the remainder of the game. Thompson led the way with three hits, with five other players collecting singles. Flores-Gomez (0-2) lasted four innings, with freshman Adrian Ramirez (Santiago HS) and Jonathan Marriott (La Quinta HS) pitching the rest of the way. In his first outing of the season, Marriott went 2 2/3 innings and allowed just one hit.
