The Cerritos College men's basketball team will host Cuesta in the 2nd Round of the playoffs

The Cerritos College men's basketball team was seeded #8 for the Southern California Regional Playoffs and will host #9-seeded Cuesta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons (17-10) who earned a share of the South Coast Conference championship, will be hosting the Cougars (21-9), who are the champions of the Western State Conference North Division. The home playoff game will be the first for Cerritos since the 2007-08 season when they defeated Santa Monica College. This will be the first meeting of the season between these two teams.

The winner of this game will play on March 5 and could potentially travel to #1-seeded Antelope Valley College (26-4), who will face either Long Beach City or Santa Ana in the second round.

The Falcons had a chance to win the conference outright, but dropped their final game of the season to Los Angeles Harbor and finished in a three-way tie. The Seahawks were seeded #10, with LB City, the other team that shared the conference title, take on Santa Ana in a play-in game.

Cerritos is 6-6 this season against teams that advanced to the playoffs, while Cuesta has posted a 7-1 record with their lone loss coming at the hands of top-ranked Fresno City College. The Falcons lead the overall series against the Cougars, 7-2 and played them as recently as last season, with Cerritos posting a 74-61 win. This will be the third time these teams have faced off in the playoffs, with Cerritos winning in 1994-95 (87-84) and Cuesta recording a 98-80 in the 1996-97 season.
